Description

I am a trainer and co-owner of Sensitive Dog in Seattle, a company that just celebrated 20 successful years in business! I began my journey in dog training through rescue and rehabilitation work in the early 2000s, driven by a deep passion for learning from dogs and working with them through difficult behaviors. From there, I sought out professional mentorship, learning as both a student and apprentice and later expanded my experience by training assistance dogs and their partners as well as serving on the board of nonprofit organizations.

For ten years, I was the co-producer of The Dog Show with Julie Forbes, a radio show and podcast all about dogs, where we interviewed leading experts in the field such as Patricia McConnell, Alexandra Horowitz, Brian Hare, Dr. John Pilley (owner of Chaser, the "world's smartest dog"), Temple Grandin, and many more. I loved every minute of this experience and learned so much from these brilliant minds doing remarkable work on behalf of dogs.

In 2013, I shifted my focus back to supporting pet dogs and their families, and I’ve been dedicated to this work ever since. My approach is holistic, balanced, and relationship-based, with a focus on helping owners establish clear communication, effective leadership, and a deeper understanding of canine communication and behavior. With a background in counseling psychology, I’m able to connect meaningfully with owners and help them navigate challenges with empathy and skill.

I truly love what I do and believe in supporting dogs and their people through all stages of life—from puppyhood to end-of-life transitions. I’m also deeply passionate about nutrition and dog wellness, which led me to recently complete the Companion Animal End-of-Life Doula program at the University of Vermont. At Sensitive Dog, we take pride in being a trusted resource for families and providing guidance that honors the unique nature of each human-dog relationship.
