**UPDATE** EXTENSION FOR SUBMISSIONS: IRELAND – Ban on Electronic Collars Being Considered

UPDATE

Charlie McConalogue has announced an extension to the public submissions on the question of whether the use of electronic collars operated by hand-held remote controls on dogs and cats should be banned in Ireland. The new deadline for submissions is February 16, 2024.

The Use of Remotely Controlled Electronic Collars in Dogs and Cats 

On January 10, 2024, the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine for the country of Ireland opened up a public forum to consider the banning of electronic collars on dogs and cats. There have been no formal publication or press releases regarding this potential ban. This potential ban is under consideration by the Advisory Council for Companion Animal Welfare, which advises the Minister on such matters. Submissions by stakeholders on this question may be submitted by email to [email protected] before 26th January 2024.
